Beatrice Carlson

I am an interdisciplinary artist, my canvas is the body. I am a contemporary jeweller based in Devonport. It is so pleasing to play with found objects, reducing them to their essentiality or changing them into something else, pursuing or creating their story!

My objective is to connect different materials/media, cultures/countries and techniques with the constant aim of repairing, embellishing and perpetuating by favouring the quality and sophistication of ancestral crafts with a contemporary eye.

Shapes are organic; they show the sea, the sparkles, our rugged coastlines. My practice is non-toxic, materials and metal are sourced ethically and recycled when possible. Every piece I hand-make in my Devonport studio is a one-off.
