Georgie Silk is a Pākehā poet, theatre maker and mental health counsellor based in Tāmaki Makaurau. After graduating high school, she trained as an actor. Her creative pursuits have led her to create theatre productions at Q Theatre, Basement Theatre and BATS Theatre. As a dyslexic, it took her some time to find joy in writing. Georgie holds a Masters degree in Counselling (First Class Honours), where she researched the benefits of creative mediums to overcome mental illness and distress. Georgie’s grandparents owned/ran the Devonport haberdasher for many years and her mother grew up in Takapuna. Her poetry collection is dedicated to her grandmother who loved reading and writing poetry.
