This hand-carved wahaika titled Te Tipunga represents a significant milestone in my growth as a carver. Sculpted from native New Zealand tōtara, the blade features a flowing manaia design along the spine, serving as a spiritual guardian. The piece highlights a natural progression in my technical control, depth of relief, and form. Finished with natural oils to enhance the warm grain and completed with a traditional white cotton cord, this weapon honours ancestral Māori craftsmanship while marking my ongoing creative development.
