This piece is carved from Oak. It has a stunning grain throughout and stands 69 cm tall. Is 20cm deep and 30 cm wide. It has Paua shell inlays representing the stars in the constellation of Matariki and reflects the moment that Matariki takes precedence as the centre of the universe to start the new year. The inward and outward koru represents the expansion of the universe, the phases of life we traverse if we are lucky enough to become frail with age.
