Twig Series: Necklace

The ‘Twig’ series came from wrapping small pieces of wood with wire. I liked the idea of the wire accentuating the shape. It coincided with finding a branch of kanuka blown down in the wind. I discovered that even the smallest twigs of this tree are very strong. I then played with other iterations.

I am a jewellery artist working in an explorative format; using a material or technique to experiment with. Completing a BA in Fine Art majoring in Gold and Silversmithing at RMIT at the beginning of my career, a few years ago I completed a Graduate Diploma in Applied Art. I supply several galleries around New Zealand with jewellery and recently had a piece acquired by the Dowse for its collection.
