Each month, DEPOT Shop | Toi Toa highlights one of the talented makers whose work is available in our gallery shop. For May 2026, we are proud to feature jeweller Rose Evans, whose practice is grounded in an ongoing exploration of material, process and form.

Working primarily in silver drawn to the energy, resistance and transformation of metal as a medium. Her practice is experimental and process-driven, exploring techniques such as annealing, pressing, doming, heating and forming to create dynamic adornments.

Her current work leans towards architectural forms, with earrings and necklaces that emphasise strong geometry and hollow structures. For Rose, working with metal is about discovery, stretching material to its limits and responding to how it moves, shifts and holds form.

Rose is also a museum object conservator and exhibition developer, founding Objectlab in 2012 and is currently working at Auckland Museum. She spent 15 years at Te Papa specialising in Māori, Pacific and contemporary sculpture, and has worked with the British Museum and Torpedo Bay Navy Museum. Rose is a resident artist upstairs at Studio D3.
