A Conversation of Mana and Matariki with Witi Ihimaera and Friends

July 2, 2017 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

“Mana” is defined as a supernatural force in a person, place or object. Mana can be seen as charisma or spiritual power, too. Join us for a special conversation with New Zealand writer and editor Witi Ihimaera and friends, as they discuss mana and its relationship to Matariki.

Hosted by The Michael King Writers Centre & Penguin Random House, this conversation is in conjunction with the Michael Krzanich’s exhibition Someone’s Mana. A photo book of the same name was also published, with an introduction by Witi Ihimaera and Haare Williams, and poetry by Haare Williams.

There will also be readings of Maori and Pacifika Fiction from Black Marks on the White Page, a new publication edited by Witi Ihimaera and Tina Makereti.

Both Someone’s Mana and Black Marks on the White Page will be available to purchase at the event.
