Brett A’Court: Visions of Reality
November 15, 2013 @ 5:00 pm - November 25, 2013 @ 4:00 pm
Opening at the Museum of the Vernacular (16 Kerr Street)
Friday 15 November 5.30 – 9pm
Please note, the gallery will be open Wednesday – Sunday 10am – 4pm and is closed on Monday and Tuesday.
Brett A’Court’s work is involved in the exploration of the world beyond the veil of perceived reality. His work tries to question the binds of post modernism, holding that all stances are unstable and insincere, and therefore irony, parody and humour are the only positions that cannot be overturned by critique or revision.
A’Court continually looks at religious imagery, often with emotive representations of the spiritual. A’Court has examined sentiment and sincerity along with the personal elements of struggle and doubt, which are a part of human existence, and anchors them within a contemporary context.
Artist Talk: Saturday 23rd November, 1pm at the Museum of the Vernacular (16 Kerr Street).
