Images from Maree Scarlett’s exhibition have been selected by the renowned New Zealand artist Max Gimblett. Scarlett’s artistic talent in visuals is something Gimblett has recognised and he has inspired and encouraged her to show her own art.
This series is an artistic exploration which leads on from Scarlett’s work in the Sum of the Parts exhibition at the Depot Artspace in 2012. This series examines the psychic, physical, mental and emotional experiences of the archetypes of sex, death and re-birth.
Maree Scarlett was born in Auckland in 1968 and has written and performed spoken word and poetry internationally. Professionally, she has a Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy and has just completed a Bachelor of Alcohol and Drug Studies.
