Sue Nelson: Burned

March 10, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - March 28, 2018 @ 3:30 pm

Burned is the insightful new installation from visual artist Sue Nelson, a powerful homage to the women who didn’t make the his-story books.

“‘Mr. History Books’ taught me about important works of art, discoveries, and inventions, but he didn’t disclose his selection process. He left out so many incredible and equally worthy masterpieces, ideas, efforts and achievements purely because they were made by people with vaginas. Only now am I starting to realise just how many of the countless women – just how amazing they were – and just how cheated we all are, for not having been shown the full picture.” – Sue Nelson –

The works are the charred remnants of one large artwork that was axed to pieces and carefully burned.  Each remnant has become unique in its own right, yet remains part of a collective that shared the same fate.

Burned officially opens on Saturday 10 March, 2pm – 3:30pm in the Main Gallery.
