World Refugee Day Speakers Evening

If you are concerned about the international refugee crisis, here’s your chance to take positive action, have an inspiring night out and see some interesting art at the same time.
Join us to celebrate World Refugee Day. You’ll hear fascinating stories and viewpoints shared by refugees and those who work with them, punctuated by live music and beautiful art.
The World Refugee Day Speakers Evening on Tuesday 20 June, 7 – 9pm will be held during the Where Shall We Call Home? exhibition. Take a look at the beautiful artworks donated by over 50 artists to raise funds to support refugee resettlement in Aotearoa.
Delicious ethnic food will be provided by the Wise Collective.

Golriz Ghahrahman – an extraordinary woman, Auckland lawyer Golriz is of Iranian heritage. She will speaks about the contribution of refugees to NZ society, and the importance of refugee background role models.
Mitchell Pham – a Trustee of the Auckland Refugee Family Trust, who will share an extraordinary tale of escape from Vietnam, and the heartbreak of being unable to reunite his family.

Join us for the World Refugee Day Speakers Evening, the exhibition opening on Saturday 17 June 2 – 3:30pm, or drop in to Depot Artspace during the exhibition’s run, 17 June – 5 July 2017. Purchase an artwork to contribute funds to the work of Red Cross or Auckland Refugee Family Trust.
