Woven is a 45-minute musical journey that blends ancient instruments, voice, and waiata to offer a deeper understanding of Te Ao Māori and its connections to the wider world.
Taisha Tari, Anna Dunwoodie, Komako Silver and Corbin Kuhtze weave together the gifts of Taonga Pūoro, the power of voice, and the soulful sound of the celtic harp with snippets of visual projection to create a space that invites empathy and deep feeling.
The narrative of Woven is present in all things, from the whenua and people to language and identity. This musical journey speaks of the interwoven thread of humanity that connects us, it is one of hope and aroha. Knowing our diversity carries a quiet strength.
Thanks to funding from Creative NZ, the Woven team are excited to debut their first performance at the DEPOT in Devonport, with plans for continued growth and development. We look forward to continuing to inspire determination, empowerment, and gentle wisdom as we walk this Woven world.
