Lily Kaukau, a contemporary Māori artist and Devonport local, stands as a dynamic force at DEPOT Artspace as Gallery Assistant and Community Engagement Coordinator, bridging the gap between art and community. In her capacity as a Gallery Assistant Lily lends her artistic eye and welcoming presence to guide visitors through current exhibitions and events, supporting the Artspace team in the preparation and realisation of its exhibition programme. Passionate about creating an inviting creative sanctuary on the North Shore, Lily’s warm demeanour fosters a sense of belonging, encouraging dialogue and interaction between artists, artworks and visitors.

As a Community Engagement Coordinator, Lily devises and delivers events, activations and conversations that bring art into the lives of the community, creating space for engagement, exploration and cultural exchange. Often taking her commitment to art and community beyond the gallery’s walls, Lily is dedicated to making art accessible, relevant and transformative for all. Through her efforts, DEPOT Artspace resonates not only as a gallery but a vibrant meeting ground for creative expression and community enrichment.
