DEPOT launches new Ceramics Studio in the heart of Devonport
Bringing the community together through art and creativity, DEPOT is thrilled to fire up its new kiln and bring ceramic painting to Devonport, an accessible and highly rewarding creative experience that offers creativity and fun for everyone.
Officially opening this Saturday 20 September as part of DEPOT’s Creative Hub at 3 Victoria Rd, the Ceramics Studio will offer ceramic painting sessions and workshops for groups, individuals, locals and anyone who is keen to give it a go!
Guests simply choose their ceramic piece, and with support from our friendly staff, visitors create their very own masterpieces.
“We are thrilled to bring another creative cornerstone to Devonport,” says DEPOT Director Amy Saunders.
“DEPOT Ceramics Studio is about more than painting pottery,” says Saunders. “It’s about connection – connection to creativity, to community, and to each other. We really want to bring people together through the art of making.”
“Research shows that being engaged in individual and social art-making activities can have a profound impact on people’s mental health and can strengthen general wellbeing.”
“We want to bring more creativity to Devonport and ensure that the creative heart of Devonport is beating.”
On Saturday there will be festivities between 12-2pm including the official opening at midday, live music and spot prizes. Resident Studio D3 artists will also open their upstairs studios so you can explore and learn more about the artists and their spaces where they create.
Local Ceramist and resident Studio D3 artist, Fiona Mackay has guided the DEPOT team through the process of glazing and firing and has been an incredible mentor enabling the establishment of the Ceramics Studio.
