Depot keen for mutual understanding with the Maunga Authority

For those of you living in the Devonport area and/or living in close proximity to one of Auckland’s treasured Maunga (ancestral mountains), you will have heard that market rents may accrue to community facilities that reside on Maunga, following the return of Maunga ownership and co-governance to the Mana Whenua iwi and hapū of Auckland.

Depot Artspace has it’s sister studio, Kerr Street Artspace at the base of Takarunga (Mt Victoria), and as you can see in the article below, we are intent on achieving an outcome that works for everybody. As our manager, Lynn Lawton has expressed:

“The Depot’s staff understand the place and meaning of the Maunga among the Maori community, and we were able to enter into a meaningful conversation about its history, present and future”
