PRE-LOVED RE-LOVED 2022
Back by popular demand, pre-loved paintings, objects and prints will be re-homed when Pre-Loved Re-Loved 2022, Depot Artspace’s annual re-sale exhibition opens on Saturday November 5th in Devonport and for purchase online from the following week.
Established in 2014, Pre-Loved Re-Loved is an annual Depot tradition that engages the public in creating a circular economy for art and promotes Artist Resale Royalties. A percentage of the gallery commission from the sale of every artwork over a standard threshold goes back to the original artist or artist’s estate. Works sold at $1000+ will have a resale royalty of 30%, split evenly between the gallery and the seller.
Previous Pre-Loved Re-Loved exhibitions have included art objects ranging from textiles and reproductions by unknown artists, to original work by well-known artists such as Robyn Kahukiwa, Fatu Feu’u, Claudia Pond Eyley, Tame Iti, Raymond Ching, Yonel Watene, Jenny Doležel and many more.
“With the local auction scene featuring regularly in the news for record art sales, Pre-Loved Re-Loved offers art lovers the opportunity to acquire a secondary market work they love that also values the artist who made them by giving back to the artist or their estate,” says Depot Artspace General Manager Amy Saunders. “It is an exhibition with sustainability at its heart.”
Curator Nina Dyer agrees: “It invites the public to participate in a healthy and equitable arts ecosystem – one which honours those who create value for the rest of the industry.”
Pre-Loved, Re-Loved opens to the public from 10AM Saturday 5th – Tuesday 29th November 2022.
Gallery hours are Tues – Sat: 10AM – 4PM. Online sales open the week of 7 November.
