Women’s Suffrage: Voting in Devonport

women vote_devonport600_web

In September we celebrated 120 years of women’s suffrage in New Zealand.
Today is the anniversary of the first time women voted in the election held on 28 November 1893!

Thanks to Ruth Coombes for providing the picture of women voting in front of the Devonport Borough Council Chambers, where the Devonport Library is now.
