Small Dog Gallery Artist of the Month: Sandra Waine

Sandra_Waine_Web

Sandra Waine – Waiting for Summer Onetangi Beach 2010.

Sandra Waine’s passion for lino cutting had its beginnings in Sydney in the mid 1990’s while studying Fine Arts. Returning home to New Zealand in 2000, Sandra’s work absorbed inspiration from her local Devonport environment.  Themes of domesticity, landscape, flora and fauna, and quirky takes on everyday life flow through her creations.  Sandra’s work has featured in numerous group exhibitions and received recognition, including first prize in Printmaking at the Auckland Easter Show Art Awards in 2010. More recently she has experimented with textile printing, producing hand printed designs on pillow cases, tea towels and other household items.
Sandra continues to create artwork in her distinctive style, as evident in this current exhibition.

Visit Small Dog Gallery at the Depot Artspace to view Waine’s work, her exhibition will run until the end of May.
