Nadine Rubin Nathan

Communications & Engagement

I have over two decades of experience in magazine, web and book publishing in South Africa where I was born and began my career as editor in chief of ELLE magazine, and in New York where I lived for 10 years, working as an editor at Harper’s Bazaar and the New York Post and as a senior editor at Assouline Publishing, producing large coffee table books and editing web magazines for fashion brands like Reed Krakoff and Ralph Lauren.

After completing a mid-career MA in arts and culture journalism from Columbia University in New York I focused on writing about the arts and visual art in particular.

I have collaborated on photography books with my Kiwi artist husband and, when we moved back to Aotearoa in 2014, I continued to freelance as a journalist, eventually writing ‘The Frame’ visual art column for Your Weekend Magazine/Stuff.

Wearing my book publishing hat, I also co-founded High Spot Literary Agency with business partner and fellow agent Vicki Marsdon, where we represent New Zealand authors of high-quality fiction and non-fiction.

I am excited to collaborate with Lauren Woolf as Marketing & Communications Manager to get the word out about the many creative opportunities available at Depot.
